And it finally happened

We set another dinner date for 15 November 2007, but was nearly interrupted. On the 15th morning, Daniel was called for an inter-CF meeting in the evening. His plans for a romantic dinner was faced with a setback.

When he picked me up at about 9-ish after his meeting, I suspected nothing and at the same time, expected nothing either. As it was rather late for dinner, we changed our dinner plans to supper. I brought him to Uptown Damansara.

When we parked the car, all of a sudden he pulled out a bouquet of red roses from the back of my seat. It was 7 stalks of roses (seven because it represents perfection). Then, he tried to pop that question. It was quite funny to see him grimace and say, "Would you want to go out with me?"

To play it cool, I grinned and retorted, "Well, aren't we going out already? We're going out for dinner, right?"

Blink.

He continued to struggle for words as we got out of his car and walked towards Uptown Mamak. He didn't want to use the word girlfriend because it's unbiblical (girlfriend doesn't exist in the Bible). Fair. So, he tried stringing sentences like, "I like you," "Can we go out?" etc.

Finally, when he finished his chicken chop, he uttered the most beloved and romantic and also biblical proposal - Would you want to follow me as I follow Christ?

How can I say no to that, right?

How do we know we are the ones?

In 2003, a good friend of mine encouraged me to make a list of the qualities I want in a man. And so I did.

On a separate ocassion, one of Daniel's leaders preached about 7 forms of confirmation. And he took note.

Daniel met the list. And we had all our 7 forms of confirmation that's specific to us. That's how we know we are the ones.

The pursuit continued...

The SMS-exchange started between us.
The talks with our individual church leaders started too.
A lot more prayers.

And finally, we went out on our first date. I can't remember the excuse that was cooked up for this date. But we had our dinner at Chili's 1 Utama that night. Food was ok, but the companion was funny.

After that night, I sent him a thank you SMS. He replied with a confession-like SMS. I was caught off-guard.

When we started to pray...

I started to pray about us. I asked God to not bring us together if we're not meant to be.

And he started to pray about us. He asked God for one day where we can get to know each other better.

At the same time, I was invited to participate in a CSR event by my ex-client. The event was in Sabak Bernam (and till now, I've no idea where it is). I wanted a road trip buddy. I asked around but everyone seemed to be busy. Since I was already close to him, naturally he was the next whom I asked to come along.

That trip was our prayers answered.

When we finally started thinking...

It wasn't until I got back from my Cambodia Mission Trip that year that I began to take notice of him. He was the organizer for the CF's fundraising event. He later invited me to the inter-college CF rally. It was then that I realised that he's actually a man who's into God's business (frankly, base on his appearance, he's no way like a Christian who's on fire).

When we were just mere acquintances...

As I was a part-timer in the college, we didn't really see each other much. We hardly talked but it was again Eyvon who got us both closer. She started dropping ideas about us on separate ocassions.

The beginning

For a wedding blog, I guess there's no better way to start it other than sharing the story of our meeting...

It all started in Life College...

I just launched out to do contract teaching and Life College was truly God's plan. Before, I tried asking a friend, Eyvon, to enquire about teaching vacancies in the college. There was none, not until one fine day on May 2007, Eyvon called to inform that there was a vacancy. Details, I cannot remember much. But all I know is that for me who has no college teaching experience then got through a 10 minutes 'interview' and was told to come to work on the same week. I started in May 2007.

For Daniel, he was trying to get out of his dead end job. It was a blessing to him because he, who didn't have college marketing experience, got through the interview and commanded a reasonable pay. He started in June 2007.
